This workshop is designed for anyone in the arts fields who is interested in learning how to access available grant opportunities for arts projects & programs including film, music, theatre and dance. Format will be a combination of classroom presentation, discussion and individual assistance with projects. Please bring information regarding a specific project you hope to have funded for discussion and to work on. Participants will receive a comprehensive resource workbook.

  • Making grantwriting work for YOUR project: In a workshop format we will help you define your project, write your mission statement, develop measurable goals & objectives and a project narrative. Your resource workbook will contain outlines and checklists for developing your proposal budget and personnel needs.
  • Hear directly from agencies that have arts grant funding available such as Metro Nashville Arts Commission and the Tennessee Arts Commission
  • Casey Gill Summar, Executive Director of the TN Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts will provide information regarding the legal services TNVLA offers for artists and arts organizations

Instructor for the workshop is Bobbie Gallup, Director of Development for FilmNashville, President of the FilmNashville Foundation, and CEO of Grant Guidance Alliance, based in Columbia, TN. She has taught fundraising and grantwriting courses at Colorado State University and Columbia State Community College, as a private consultant and independent grant writer. Bobbie has 25 years of professional experience in generating supplemental funding for non-profit organizations and governmental agencies. She has helped numerous non-profit organizations by developing successful business plans and assisting them with preparing their non-profit paperwork. Grantwriting professionals generally consider a 15% success rate on grant submissions to be a significant achievement… Bobbie’s hovers closer to 85%. She is available on a consulting basis to work with individuals and organizations regarding their grant requirements and submissions.

A few of the agencies and organizations for which Bobbie provides organizational planning services and develops grant proposals include the Project to Preserve African American Turf History, Indiana Counselors Association, Ultimate Earth, Nashville Composers Association, the Nashville Screenwriters Conference, Kid Pan Alley, the Council for Native American Music, Media Fellowship International, Tripoli Rocketry Association, the Lost Boys Foundation, the Ravenbrook Group, as well as FilmNashville, the FilmNashville Foundation and independent documentary filmmakers.
